Description
Dahlia Hartenaas is a striking Collarette Dahlia with open, horizontally held blooms in a rich purple shade. The outer petals feature a slightly lighter edge, while a graceful collar of smaller, lighter coloured petals surrounds the centre of each flower. This distinctive flower structure gives every bloom an elegant and playful appearance.
The flowers measure approximately 8.5 cm across and stand out beautifully against the fresh green foliage and stems. Dahlia Hartenaas reaches a height of around 55 cm, making it a compact variety. It is therefore an excellent choice for the front of borders, cutting gardens or large containers on a patio or balcony.
Plant the tubers in spring in a sunny position with fertile, well drained soil. Regularly removing spent flowers encourages the plant to produce new buds throughout the summer. The open flower shape creates an airy effect and combines beautifully with ornamental grasses, perennials and other single flowering dahlias.
