Description
Dahlia Wizard of Oz is a charming Ball Dahlia admired for its perfectly round blooms and soft, romantic colouring. The fully double flowers are made up of neatly arranged petals in a delicate light pink shade that gradually softens to an even paler pastel pink as the blooms mature. Thanks to its flawless ball shaped flowers and elegant colour, Dahlia Wizard of Oz is a timeless variety that stands out both in the garden and in floral arrangements.
This Ball Dahlia flowers abundantly from July until the first frost and reaches a height of approximately 80 to 100 cm. Dahlia Wizard of Oz thrives in a sunny position with fertile, humus rich and well drained soil. Its strong stems support the perfectly formed blooms with ease, making this variety ideal for borders, cottage gardens, cutting gardens and large containers. Regular deadheading encourages the plant to continue producing new flower buds throughout the season.
Dahlia Wizard of Oz is also an outstanding cut flower. The symmetrical blooms have an excellent vase life and add a soft, elegant touch to bouquets. The light pink flowers combine beautifully with white, lilac, deep purple and burgundy dahlias, while also pairing perfectly with ornamental grasses and perennials. Although the tubers are not hardy and should be lifted before winter, they reward gardeners every year with an abundance of flowers. With its perfect ball shaped blooms, romantic pastel pink colour and long flowering season, Dahlia Wizard of Oz is a stylish addition to any summer garden.
