Different varieties of flower bulbs, tubers and bare roots

Spring flowering bulbs are the perfect addition to any garden in the UK. These bulbs bring a burst of colour and fragrance after a long and dreary winter, creating a beautiful and welcoming environment for you and your visitors. At our online store, BULBi, we offer a wide range of spring flowering bulbs, including the classic favorites such as Tulips, Daffodils, and Hyacinths, as well as the beautiful Allium, Fritillaria and Lilies.

Spring flowering bulbs should be planted in the autumn before the first frost, so they can develop through the cold of winter and bloom in the spring. Some of the flower bulbs like Galanthus, Eranthis, and Crocus can even sprout as early as January, making them the perfect appetizer for bees and other pollinators. Planting spring flowering bulbs is an excellent way to support the bee population, and our Bee-friendly flower bulb mix is a great option for those who want to make a difference.

Our naturalising bulbs are winter-hardy and come back every year, such as Galanthus (Snowdrops) and Daffodils, which flourish well under trees or shrubs. Crocus and Scilla (Bluebells) can also be planted in the lawn, while the botanical little tulips prefer a spot in the sun.

Perennials are a great addition to any garden, providing a reliable source of colour and texture year after year. But if you want to take your garden to the next level, consider combining perennials with flower bulbs. By planting bulbs like tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths in and around your perennials, you can add bursts colour and fragrance that complement your perennials beautifully. Flower bulbs bloom in early spring when many perennials are just starting to emerge, so you can enjoy a longer season of blooms.

Order your flower bulbs, tubers, and rootstocks online in our webshop and enjoy the most beautiful flowers in your garden, terrace, or balcony from early spring onwards!

How to plant and care for flower bulbs

Unpack the flower bulbs, tubers, rootstocks upon arrival and plant them as soon as possible after delivery. If you are not possible to plant right away? Then place the flower bulbs and tubers in a cool (12-17 degrees), dark and dry place with good ventilation. Do not store in plastic or in the refrigerator because the flower bulbs, tubers and rootstocks must be able to breathe.

Planting flower bulbs in the garden:

Choose a location: Select a spot in your garden that receives plenty of sunlight and has well-draining soil. Flower bulbs need sunlight to thrive. Make sure there is a good drainage because excess water can cause them to rot.

Dig a hole: Use a garden trowel to dig a hole that is two to three times deeper than the height of the bulb. For example, if the bulb is two inches tall, dig a hole that is four to six inches deep.

Place the bulb: Place the bulb in the hole with the pointed end facing up. Cover the bulb with soil.

Water: Give the bulb a good drink of water. So the flower bulb immediatly start to root. Be careful not to overwater, as too much water can cause the bulb to rot.

Planting flower bulbs in containers and pots:

Choose a container: Select a container or pot that is at least six inches deep and has drainage holes. The container should also be large enough to accommodate the size of the bulb.

Add soil: Fill the container with potting soil, leaving a few inches of space at the top.

Place the bulb: Place the bulb in the center of the container with the pointed end facing up. Cover the bulb with soil.

Water: Give the bulb a good drink of water. Be careful not to overwater, as too much water can cause the bulb to rot. Make sure there is good drainage. This will help the bulb to grow and produce strong roots.

Place in a sunny location: Place the container in a sunny location. Water the container regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.

By following these simple instructions, you can enjoy a beautiful display of flowering bulbs in your garden or on your patio.
